Once known as Strawberry Point and primarily a beach, this Alaskan city is situated on land created by glaciers of Glacier Bay. Gustavus was established in 1917 by Abraham Lincoln Parker. It is a main access point to Glacier Bay National Park and is divided by the Salmon River. There are several people of whom the city is said to have been named after including Sweden's King Gustavus Adolphus and Navy explorer Gustavus C. Hanus.
