Shrouded in mystery due to the lack of archaeological and historical evidence, the Pyramid of Mankaure was apparently built for the tomb of Pharaoh Menkaure, the successor of Pharaoh Khafre. At the end of the twelfth century al-Malek al-Aziz Othman ben Yusuf, tried to have the pyramids demolished, but gave up after it proved near impossible. As a result Menkaure has a large gash in it's side, marking it out amongst the others. Even though it is the smallest of all three pyramids at Giza, Menkaure is not to be missed on any Egyptian adventure.
