The small city of Rivière-du-Loup is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, and was named after the nearby Rivière-du-Loup river. The city was established in 1673 and was originally a village named Fraserville. The village became a city in 1910 and was renamed Rivière-du-Loup in 1919. The city is known for its hilly landscape which has resulted with the city's television stations only being able to admit through two transmitters instead of one.
