Known as "The World's Image Center" and "Birthplace of Amateur Photography," this city in New York state was the location that banker George Eastman chose to manufacture his invention that introduced a small Kodak camera in 1888 and later created movie film. Rochester began as a village in the early 1800s as Rochesterville and was incorporated as a city in 1834. The city's Highland Park was designed by renowned architect Frederick Law Olmstead in 1888 and Rochester's Browncroft Historic District is on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
